Casey Jones was a brave engineer
When he first went out on the road
His wife didn't want him to go
He sittin' up there in the cab the day they made the raid

Little children commenced hollerin' and cryin'

He couldn't stand that, hollerin' and cryin'
He told the fireman, he said, "Get the bell, let's go"
And I heard the bell, something like this
Wife's still cryin'
"And don't leave me here

Shortly after that, I heard him
His drive wheels jumpin' the railroad joints
Somethin' like this, he was gone
He runned up on sheep, some sheep
Blowed for 'em to get off the track
But they wouldn't get off, he had to stop his train
Made him sorta mad too
I heard him when he's cuttin' down
He's blowin' somethin' like this
For the sheep to get off the track
After he got the sheep off the track he
Had to stop and run 'em off, he
Commenced cursin', here's what he said

After that
Throwin' him a little behind time
Looked like them drive wheels tryin' to
Catch up with them little truck wheels
They all got scared, thought he's gonna make a wreck
Which he did
One good Christian lady commenced singin'
"Lord have mercy, save me, Lord"
