About Wildwood Kin
Artist Biography
Folk trio Wildwood Kin were formed by sisters Beth and Emillie Key and their cousin Meghann Loney in Exeter following an open-mike invite at their local pub. The three relatives began singing together at a young age, having learned to harmonize from their mothers. Inspired by the work of acts like Fleetwood Mac, Bob Dylan, and Mumford and Sons, the group began to cultivate an Anglo-Americana style within their own songwriting, and in 2015 the fledgling band put out their debut EP. Following the release of Salt of the Earth, Wildwood Kin were nominated for the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award, and by 2016 they were securing slots at festivals like Glastonbury, Cambridge Folk Festival, and Beautiful Days. They continued to tour extensively that year, supporting the Oh Hellos and Seth Lakeman, and were subsequently featured on the latter's Top 20 album Ballads of the Broken Few. In early 2017 they were honored at the second U.K. Americana Awards with the Bob Harris Emerging Artist gong. Later that year, Wildwood Kin released their debut long-player, Turning Tides, which drew comparisons to American sibling trio Haim. ~ Bekki Bemrose
