About Tin Star
Artist Biography
Beat-driven English rock band Tin Star was formed in 1996 by vocalist Dave Tomlinson and guitarist/songwriter Tim Bricheno -- both formerly of XC-NN -- as well as bassist/programmer Tim Gordine. Their hybrid sound was influenced by a diversity of artists such as Sex Pistols, the Everly Brothers, and Public Enemy. After playing a few shows and recording a demo, the band signed to V2 and released their debut album, the Thrill Kisser, in 1999. Album singles "Head" and "Disconnected Child" were rock radio hits and featured on multiple television shows and movies such as Gossip and The Sixth Sense. Two years later, the trio released their sophomore set, Dirty Bird. They promoted the LP on a tour with Sisters of Mercy, but the band soon reached a natural end as priorities shifted within the group. Tomlinson started new projects and a family, while both Bricheno and Gordine went into producing. ~ Neil Z. Yeung
