About Peter Walker
Artist Biography
Guitarist Peter Walker was part of the wave of acoustic instrumentalists (Sandy Bull, John Fahey, et al.) who combined roots in traditional music with the expansive, exploratory spirit of the 1960s. Walker, who provided music for some of Timothy Leary's mid-'60s LSD events, brought the influences of flamenco, raga, and folk to his instrumental excursions. His 1966 debut, RAINY DAY RAGA, was an early psych-folk touchstone, but Walker went into semi-retirement in the '70s. He was coaxed back into action in the mid-2000s, when he began recording and performing for a new generation of admirers.
