About Montgomery Gentry
Artist Biography
A country duo with a Southern rock spirit, Kentucky outfit Montgomery Gentry has been topping the charts since 1999.
∙ Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry began playing together in the ’90s, initially as part of two different groups fronted by the former’s older brother, John Michael Montgomery.
∙ Beginning with the pair’s 1999 debut, Tattoos & Scars, Montgomery Gentry have cracked the Top 10 of the Billboard Country Albums chart with eight different studio LPs.
∙ Between 1999 and 2011, they were nominated for Vocal Duo of the Year 13 straight times by the Country Music Awards, winning once in 2000.
∙ They’ve hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country chart five times, starting with “If You Ever Stop Loving Me,” the lead single from the Platinum-selling 2004 album You Do Your Thing.
∙ In 2009, country legend Charlie Daniels—an early mentor who also guested on their first album—invited Montgomery Gentry to join the Grand Ole Opry.
∙ Following the untimely passing of Gentry in a 2017 helicopter crash, Montgomery has kept the project alive and continued to tour.
