About Mia Kodak
Artist Biography
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. One of my earliest memories is singing and rapping to every song on BET's 106 & Park. Every day at 5 PM, I’d stand in front of the TV in our living room, hitting every dance and lyric. I watched every episode, dreaming of hosting the show one day.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Hurricane Chris, 51/50 Ratchet Pretty Ricky, Bluestars Sammie, From the Bottom to the Top Sammie's From the Bottom to the Top is pure nostalgia, from the CD era with posters and lyrics, it aged beautifully, and I still enjoy every track! Pretty Ricky's Bluestars—what a time, you just had to be there! 51/50 Ratchet is a classic—ay bay bay!
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Dear Mama” "Dear Mama" is really special to me because it’s a heartfelt tribute to my mom and all the sacrifices she made. It captures our relationship perfectly and lets me show just how grateful I am for everything. Everyone deserves a mama like Coach Kelly!
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? One of the most memorable moments in my career was performing in my hometown, Kansas City, with my family there to support me. Having my dad see me perform live, after being incarcerated for 14 years, meant the world to me! My family is everything!
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Absolutely! I'm just getting started. I still want to go on tour, eventually a world tour, become an EGOT winner, and have a #1 song on the Billboard Hot 100. There's so much more I want to achieve! I plan on doing everything I want and then some!
