About Los Super Seven
Artist Biography
Formed in 1998, the Latin supergroup Los Super Seven was based around vocalists Rick Treviño and Ruben Ramos, who recruited several front-rank performers from the fields of Latin American and Latin-tinged country music for their self-titled album, including Joe Ely, Freddy Fender, and members of Los Lobos. The group's lively take on the Tex-Mex and norteño traditions won them a 1999 Grammy Award, and they were favorably compared to the Buena Vista Social Club. Thereafter, Los Super Seven broadened its repertoire to include Cuban and Brazilian music, and were joined on subsequent recordings by Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, John Hiatt, and Lyle Lovett.
