Artist Biography
Soprano Karin Wolverton has performed widely in the U.S. and beyond, taking roles in both traditional repertory and contemporary operas. Wolverton made her recording debut in 2008 in Ricky Ian Gordon's opera The Grapes of Wrath. A breakthrough for Wolverton came in 2011 when she was cast as singer Anna Sørenson in the Minnesota Opera's world premiere production of Kevin Puts' opera Silent Night. Wolverton reprised the role at the Minnesota Opera in 2018. Wolverton performed several more roles at the Minnesota Opera, including both Mimi and Musetta in Puccini's La bohème. The role of Mimi became a specialty. Wolverton's career as a concert singer has flourished, appearing in the Minnesota Orchestra's performance of Nielsen's Symphony No. 3, Op. 27 ("Sinfonia espansiva") at New York's Carnegie Hall. Wolverton's 2018 performance of Puts' Silent Night was recorded and released in 2021.
