Indie-folk duo JOHNNYSWIM formed after Amanda Sudano—who honed her musical skills touring with her mom, Donna Summer—began writing songs with her future husband, Abner Ramirez.
∙ In 2014, JOHNNYSWIM appeared on Live from Daryl’s House, where they performed several originals and a cover of Daryl Hall & John Oates’ “Adult Education.”
∙ Fixer Upper stars Chip and Joanna Gaines are big fans—2012’s “Home” is the show’s theme song—which led to JOHNNYSWIM getting their own reality series, Home on the Road.
∙ Their first two albums, 2014’s Diamonds and 2016’s Georgica Pond, topped the iTunes Singer/Songwriter chart.
∙ The couple collaborated with R&B legend Michael McDonald on the soulful 2019 single “The Last Time.”
∙ In 2020, they launched a weekly creative exercise called Songs With Strangers, in which they spend one day creating a song from scratch with a randomly selected fan via social media.
