Joe Chambers is a drummer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist. A house musician at Blue Note during the 1960s, he played on dozens of progressive albums. He joined Max Roach's M'Boom and Charles Mingus in the '70s. The Almoravid, his acclaimed leader debut, appeared in 1974. In 1978, he released Double Exposure with organist Larry Young. Chambers made his Blue Note leader debut with Mirrors in 1998, then signed with Savant for 2002's Urban Grooves, 2006's The Outlaw, and 2012's Joe Chambers Moving Pictures Orchestra. He returned to Blue Note for 2021's Samba de Maracatu and in 2023 led a sextet on Dance Kobina.
