About Hot
Artist Biography
A soulful female R&B/country-pop trio from Los Angeles, California, Hot hit it big in 1977 with their sultry rendition of the Clayton Ivey, Terrence Woodford, and Tom Brasfield-penned "Angel in Your Arms," which became an international hit and peaked at the number six slot on the Billboard Top 100. Formed in 1976 around the talents of seasoned session singers Gwen Owens, Cathy Carson, and Juanita Curiel, the trio issued their eponymous debut LP in 1977 via Big Tree Records, a subsidiary of Atlantic. Along with the chart-topping "Angel in Your Arms," which also became a hit for Barbara Mandrell in 1985, the album spawned the singles "Right Feeling at the Wrong Time" and "You Brought the Woman Out of Me." The trio's second and third outings, 1978's If That's the Way You Want It...You Got It and 1980's Strong Together, were well received, but failed to match the commercial success of their debut, and by the end of 1982, the band had ceased operations. ~ James Christopher Monger
