About Dennis McGee
Artist Biography
Born at the tail end of the 19th century, fiddler Dennis McGee was to Cajun music what the Carter Family were to country. His combination of folk and Creole sounds, as captured on his landmark recordings of the late 1920s and early '30s, created the template that generations of Cajun musicians would come to follow. McGee continued to perform into the 1980s, passing away in '89 at the ripe old age of 96.
