Formed in 2018, Belfast's Dea Matrona are a close-harmony act who add elements of blues, folk, and pop to a classic rock template. In 2019, they followed an eclectic EP, Away from the Tide, with "Hard on Yourself," a slice of agreeable acoustic country pop. A hard-rocking follow-up, "Make You My Star," appeared in 2020, but it was with a tight rendition of Fleetwood Mac's "Oh Well" (featured in a viral video of them busking that year) that Dea Matrona broke through. Singles such as the '80s-flavored "Red Button" appeared on a self-released, late 2022 eponymous EP. A 2024 cameo appearance playing Dolly Parton's "Light of a Clear Blue Morning" on the BBC police drama Blue Lights set in Belfast, was beamed into over four million U.K. homes. That same year, their debut album, For Your Sins, hit the Scottish Top 20 and number five on the U.K. Indie Chart.
