Big Girls Don't Cry and Twelve Others
Album · Pop · 1963
Frankie Valli and co.'s third album is another mix of timeless hits and well-Seasoned covers. The title song is classic teen-beat melodrama, complete with Valli's "cry-yi-yi" choruses. And on "Walk Like a Man", they offer a get-tough lesson for the boys, with Valli's lead vocal and the fellas' sharp harmonies all streetwise Jersey swagger. Elsewhere, "Hi-Lili, Hi-Lo" takes on a driving beat. The group's secret weapon, Nick Massi's deep bass, shines on a walloping cover of "Why Do Fools Fall in Love?"
