Twentieth-century composer Bruno Maderna was as passionate about music of the past as he was about composing works that defined his own age. Here, we get to listen to his transcriptions for modern orchestra of Renaissance and Baroque works by Palestrina, Gabrieli, Frescobaldi, Legrenzi and Viadana. These are masterful, tasteful arrangements, and are performed with utmost clarity and sensitivity.
