Devvon Terrell hails from Brooklyn, and FUTURISTIC is based in Arizona, but that distance isn't enough to keep these two wry, punchline-slinging rappers apart. On their first joint album, the duo come off as proud underdogs who’ve taken notes from Drake’s school of hybrid rap-singing, evidenced on moody R&B slow-burner “Uber to My Place” or the bass-heavy, dancehall-flavoured “Uh!” Throughout, they’re cautious but cocky: Just see “Playin With", in which a swaggering slo-mo funk groove builds into an explosive crescendo.
